In April 2023 the Project Convenors (Joanna Innes and Mark Philp) will be visiting Switzerland to talk to Swiss historians about the project and about how they see the language of democracy and associated practices changing in the later 18th and early 19th Century.

On May 4 and 5 the Project will be holding a workshop in Warwick University on Germany and the continuing relevance of the work undertaken on the history of concepts in relation to Democracy by the Geschichtliche Grundbegriffe – a project begun over fifty years ago.

On 20-21 June, the project leaders will attend a conference in Finland around the question of representation in the region.

We will post further details of these events as plans consolidate. If you wish to be involved in some or all of these events, please contact Joanna.innes@history.ox.ac.uk or mark.philp@warwick.ac.uk.

The Project is grateful for the support it has received in these activities from the Institute of Advanced Study, the Humanities Research Fund, and the European History Research Centre in the Department of History at the university of Warwick.
